Ali Turiano Career

Turiano currently contributes to FOX 4 News in Dallas. When Turiano was eleven years old, her family relocated from New York to Tampa Bay, Florida, and that is when Turiano developed a fascination for the weather. Every afternoon lightning-filled thunderstorms passed through like clockwork, illuminating the sky. Ali was mesmerized by the soaring clouds and lightning that were strewn over the sky like a spiderweb. When “Twister,” a box office sensation, was released, her career path became immediately clear. Tornado pursuit was Ali’s goal! Naturally, her mother would not permit that, so she continued her education in high school by enrolling in numerous difficult math and science courses in order to get ready for college.

Ali had the good fortune to work an internship at WFTS in Tampa during her senior year. She was able to combine her love of weather and acting in front of the camera there. Turiano was confident in his decision to become a TV meteorologist. With a focus on forecasting and communications, Turiano earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Penn State University. She took part in the CampusWeather Service and the College of Communications program “The Centre County Report” while she was a student at Penn State. Additionally, Ali got the chance to serve as an apprentice at the National Weather Service.

Achievements

Turiano was privileged to land her first job after college as the morning meteorologist at WENY in Elmira, New York. Ali also had the chance to fill in at our sister station WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania while she was in the Finger Lakes. Turiano was prepared for those violent thunderstorms that began her meteorology dream after nearly two years of snow, ice, and bitter cold. When News 13 in Orlando contacted Elmira, she leaped at the chance to be nearer to her family and the beach!

The weather Turiano predicted while in Orlando ranged from clear skies to hurricanes and floods. One storm she will never forget is Tropical Storm Fay. Fay battered the Sunshine State for a week, dumping more than three feet of rain in some places. In Central Florida, severe weather can occur at any time, therefore Ali’s six years in Orlando really aided her predicting abilities.

Ali was eager for a fresh challenge after six years in Florida and believed Dallas would provide it. Turiano is excited and eager to integrate into the Dallas neighborhood. Since Ali has had family there for a long time, she has always felt as though Dallas is a second home.
