She studied at Arkansas State University where she graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio and Television. She also attended Southern New Hampshire University and received her Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies. Finney started her career in journalism as a Feature Reporter at KATV Channel 7 News under Sinclair Broadcast Group in Arkansas in December 2012.
Here, she covered ‘The Morning Juice’ which featured topics from the controversy bout religious laws in Arkansas and Indiana, to entertainment news, to the Charleston shooting in South Carolina at Mother Emanuel AME Church. She worked here for almost 4 years before joining KTBS TV in Shreveport, Louisiana as a News Anchor in August 2016. Finney covered the floods in Baton Rouge, Louisiana of August 2016 and the aftermath on the third day of work. She often hosted state leaders, U.S. Congressmen, and city councilmen while covering the 9:00 am morning and mid-day news.
In September 2018, she then joined KALB TV Channel 5 News as a Morning News Anchor. During this time, Finney covered investigative stories such as the overhaul of the Medicaid application process, fraud in government assistance programs, and thousands of people being removed from the program. She worked here for about a year before moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and joining WHP TV, a CBS 21 affiliate as a Weekend News Anchor. Here she covered the COVID- 19 pandemic and its impact. She eventually joined the team at FOX 19 WXIX TV in October 2021 in Cincinnati working as a Morning News Anchor. She reports the 5:00 am, 6:00 am, and 8:00 am news.
Finney claims her grandmother, being the matriarch of her family, gave her the foundation required as she was quite a remarkable woman.
