In addition, she has a Master of Arts degree in Geography, with distinction from the same university. On the other hand, Ann has an Associate of Arts degree with honors from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Further, she has provided public communications training to the meteorologists at NWS Charleston WV, and is a National Weather Service Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador.
Lockard has experienced first-hand historic weather events like the 2012 “Superderecho.” She has also watched real-time as serious weather impacts unfolded for her neighbors and friends, like the catastrophic flooding in 2016. Her love for the weather began when she was very young, in kindergarten. As a student volunteer, Ann worked with the National Weather Service office in Charleston, West Virginia during the summer of 2019, for over 150 hours. Her other meteorological passions are forensic meteorology, fire weather, and climatology. Outside work, you will find her doing crochet, gardening, hiking, or metal-detecting.
