Barbara-Lee Edwards is an American anchor working for CBS News 8. She joined this channel in 2001 anchoring the 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts every weeknight. Edwards has won the Emmy® Award many times for her excellent work. She was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Her first job was at an AM radio station in Vancouver. This is a job she landed while still at the British Columbia Institute of Technology where she was studying broadcast journalism. Soon after, Barbara then landed her first TV job at the Global Television station in Vancouver. A few years later, that is in 1994, she went to the Global affiliate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Here she worked as an anchor and producer. She then moved to the CTV affiliate in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and worked her way up to senior news anchor and now is at a top job, CBS News 8 is a place she is happy to be.
Lee has made it her mission to fight breast cancer, for more than 10 years. With Susan G. Komen San Diego. Lee has a passion is educating her community in San Diego on how important it is to go for early detection of cancer. The two also give people the latest information on breast cancer research and treatment on CBS News 8’s “Breast Cancer Can’t Stop San Diegans.” Edwards and Susan G. Komen are the heart and soul of CBS 8’s. Barbara has served as San Diego Race for the Cure emcee and Team KFMB Captain.
She has helped raise millions for breast cancer patients and their families, research for the cure, and also for Susan G. Komen. Being a health reporter, she is happy to have touched many people’s lives by walking with them through their cancer journey.
Apart from being an anchor, Barbara is an animal lover, she is a host of CBS News 8’s Pet Friends and the San Diego Humane Society & SPCA Telethon for the Animals. Here she helps in the adoption recruiting and in educating people on how to prevent animal neglect and abuse.
Outside work, you will find her doing fitness, she loves it so much. Additionally, she loves working out, playing tennis, and running. Lee enjoys sports, especially hockey and Vancouver Canucks which she is in love with.
