Brittney Shipp Biography
Brittney Shipp is an American journalist based in Philadelphia serving as a meteorologist for NBC10’s First Alert Weather Team. She provides live newscasts every weekday evening. After working as the Chief Meteorologist at KRON-TV in the San Francisco Bay Area for two years, Brittney came back to NBC10. She is thrilled to be working again in the Greater Philadelphia region and having a positive influence on the neighborhood.

Shipp is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in international development studies. She also has a Mississippi State University Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology. Shipp is currently an NBC10 News correspondent. Brittney began her career as a morning weekday weather reporter/features reporter at KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona, before moving on to NBC10. She later went on to serve as a weekend meteorologist and special assignment reporter at KTVK-3TV in Phoenix, Arizona. For four major morning programs, including MSNBC’s Morning, Joe, First Look, and Way Too Early as well as NBC’s Early Today, Brittney has served as a stand-in weather anchor.

At Philadelphia International Airport, about 68 inches of snow fell during the second snowiest winter ever recorded. Brittney is passionate about closing the gender gap in STEM fields, visiting educational schools, and promoting diversity in children’s literature. She is committed to inspiring young females and students to explore professions in weather and science through school visits, mentorship, and volunteering. Brittney enjoys globe travel when she is not making weather predictions. She values spending time with her family and considers becoming a new mother to be her most significant accomplishment.
