Byron graduated from Mississippi State University’s broadcast meteorology department and has a bachelor of arts in communications from California State University, East Bay. In Oakland, California, Byron started his career as an assignment editor. He worked as an Oakland police officer and an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force before becoming a meteorologist on television.
Byron formerly worked as the meteorologist at Los Angeles’ KNBC before joining WMAQ. Byron previously held the position of head meteorologist at KCBS in Los Angeles and KGTV in San Diego.
