Chris Costa Biography
Costa is an Emmy award winning multimedia journalist currently working at News Center Maine, Portland since July 2015.
Chris Costa Education
Chris studied and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2013 from Boston University’s College of Communication with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a concentration in Broadcast.
While studying in Boston University, he used to work as a sideline reporter for the BU Men’s Hockey team. He won a Boston/New England Regional Student Emmy for a piece on Gun Control and also for a New England Associated Press Student Award for his participation in the 2012 Presidential Election Coverage as one of the show’s co-anchors.
Chris Costa Career
Costa is currently the multimedia journalist for the News Center at WCSH 6 in Portland, Prior to that he worked at the News Center Maine’s sister station KHOU 11 in Houston Texas for a year and about 6 months.
While at KHOU 11, he reported the mass shooting in Midland and Odessa, he documented the grief and simultaneous resilience of the Permian Basin Community and also reporting news of the FBI raid on the shooter’s home.
He later landed a job at KAGS HD News, which is a TEGNA sister station in Bryan, TX, since August 2013 as a news and sports multimedia journalist. He was a general assignment reporter for news, but also did weekly “Health Alert” segments with a physician.
In sport news, Chris covered Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M football team among other sports, he also covered high school sports, with an (obvious) emphasis on Friday Night Lights high school football. After a while Chris was promoted to the co-anchor and producer at the station’s 10 p.m.
