The Dallas Police Department staged their “Night of Honor” award event on July 6, 2017, the night before the one-year anniversary of the Dallas Police Ambush. Clarice delivered the keynote address. The families of Dallas Police Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, Officer Michael Krol, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and Sgt. Michael Smith received the Police Cross that evening posthumously. Officer Brent Thompson of the DART Police died that evening as well. For their bravery that fateful night, more than one hundred Dallas police officers were recognized with accolades.

Clarice completed her ninth year as the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge’s reading ambassador in June 2017. She reads to children during StoryTime at Dallas branch libraries and talks to them about the excitement and prizes they can win by participating in the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge, which is sponsored by FOX4. Texas’ State Fair announced the Clarice Tinsley Journalism Scholarship’s establishment in April 2017. The recipient of the Pete Schenkel State Fair of Texas Scholarship who is enrolled in college and pursuing a career as a broadcast or print journalist will receive this educational opportunity. Clarice received the Ann Williams Award from the Dallas Black Dance Theatre in January 2016. Charley Pride, a Grammy winner, and legend of country music gave it to Clarice. 2015’s New Year’s Eve found Clarice and her husband in Dubai for her birthday celebration. Clarice noticed smoke at a party around 9:30 that evening as they were getting ready to see the midnight fireworks in front of the Burj Khalifa, the highest structure in the world. It became darker. When she checked social media, she discovered it was at The Address hotel and condo. From the hotel’s roof, Clarice recorded a video of the smoke, which she then submitted to FOX4. In order to cover the fire and return the film to FOX4, she then took off her high heels, changed into her athletic shoes, and walked 2 kilometers with her husband.

Clarice was thrilled to narrate “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at The Meyerson Symphony Center in December 2015 alongside the brass section of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. President Barack Obama was interviewed by Clarice in the White House on March 19, 2014, making headlines around the world. She was the first journalist to ask the president about the hunt for flight MH-370 out of Malaysia. One of the 239 people traveling aboard the Triple 7 was a resident of North Texas.

As a member of the team that provided live coverage of the five presidents in Dallas for the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center and Library in April 2013, Clarice was involved in the event. Clarice was one of nine Dallas ladies recognized in April 2013 with the first-ever “High Tea with High Heels” Award.
