Dan is currently a contributor at FOX 4 News. Dan probably watched too much television when he was a kid. However, spending so much time in front of the television did have one positive outcome: it assisted him in determining his line of work! Godwin has always thought of himself as fortunate to be able to convey stories with the aid of images, sounds, and whatever inventiveness he can conjure. He is particularly appreciative that in 2000, his career path brought him to North Texas and Fox4.
Godwin became interested in mass media at a young age and decided UCLA would be the best university for him to attend. After graduating, Dan accepted a position as a weekend cameraman at a station in Santa Maria, California. It was a fantastic experience. (Santa Barbara is located there, about an hour north.) Godwin learned the fundamentals of electronic news gathering there and went on to become a reporter and weekend anchor. Dan began working in Fresno, in the vast Central Valley of California, in 1992 and remained there until he was hired by Fox 4. Godwin was immediately impressed by this station’s dedication to reporting and the caliber of its staff.
