Dom Tiberi’s Daughter Dies
Tiberis’s daughter, Maria Elizabeth Tiberi passed on in 2013 at night in a tragic motor accident. This was caused by distracted driving. Her car struck a tractor-trailer on I-270 in Hilliard. Maria was driving south on the Outerbelt when her car crashed into the rear of the truck at Cemetery Road at about 10:45 p.m.
It was unfortunate that Elizabeth died at Ohio Health Grant Medical Center. Because of her death Dom, with the help of WBNS-10TV, launched “Maria’s Message,” which is a public service campaign created to educate teens about distracted driving. Tiberi’s efforts, supported by Ohio Senator, Jim Hughes, have secured legislation making September “Safe Driving Month” in Ohio, in memory of Maria Tiberi. Further, this legislation was signed into law by Governor Kasich in June 2014.
