Campbell started her career in music in 1998 working with her younger sister, Tina Campbell. Actually, her sister is the one that formed half of the gospel music duo, Mary Mary. Campbell earned so many Stellar Music and Dove Awards as part of Mary Mary. These awards include BET Award, a Soul Train Award, two American Music Awards, three NAACP Image Awards, and four Grammy Awards. In addition, she recorded “Stand” which was a solo track in 2008, it was for the soundtrack to the independent film A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
Mary Mary had extraordinary songwriting and therefore, it received the ASCAP Golden Note Award in 2011. Two years later, Campbell started her own solo music recording. First, she recorded her first studio album, Help, which she released on March 25, 2014, with Entertainment One Music. It actually became her breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine charts, while it charted on The Billboard 200, Top Gospel Albums, and Independent Albums charts, and it peaked at Nos. 6, 1, and 2.
At the 57th edition of the Best Gospel Album, Campbell won a Grammy Award. Help 2.0 was her subsequent studio album which she released on March 31, 2015, and also from Entertainment One Music. Further, the album charted on the same charts, but at Nos. 120, 1, and 12, respectively. In addition, Campbell with her husband Warryn starred in their own reality show on TV One in April 2018. The show highlighted Erica going back to the studio to record her new album. Additionally, they released a music video titled, “All of My Life” in the same year.
