Erica Hill serves as a Morning TV Anchor and National Correspondent at CNN in New York. She studied at Boston University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1998. Upon graduation, Hill started her career in journalism as a Production Assistant for “PC Week Radio” and Conference Coordinator for the Software Publishers Association Europe. She also served as a Host and Reporter at ZDTV or TechTV in November 1998 for about 4 years. This is where she received recognition for covering the September 11th terrorist attacks. Hill later proceeded to CNN Headline News in January 2003 as a general News Anchor.
In 2004, she served CNN as a Correspondent, co-anchoring ‘Prime News Tonight’ before anchoring her own ‘Prime News with Erica Hill’ between 2006 and 2008. In addition, she also anchored ‘CNN Tonight’ between January 2009 and January 2010. This was before Hill started working at CBS News in August 2008 as an Anchor of ‘The Early Show’ and Correspondent, replacing Russ Mitchell on the weekday edition from January 2010. She has filled in for several anchors while at CBS such as; Katie Couric, Maggie Rodriguez, and Scott Pelley. Hill co-anchored “CBS This Morning” with the biggest names in journalism; namely Charlie Rose and Gayle King in November 2011 before being replaced with Norah O’Donnell.
In October 2012, she became Co-Anchor of Weekend Today and NBC News Correspondent. Around April 2016, she decided to take time off Weekend Today show to spend some time with family, even though she still covered daily reporting of news on MSNBC and NBC Nightly News. In June 2016, Hill returned to HLN as the Anchor of the daytime news program “On The Story with Erica Hill” and contribute to CNN. She was announced as the lead fill-in Anchor and National Correspondent at CNN in April 2018. Additionally, she is also a member of the Board of Directors at Americares since July 2020.
