Dr. McGeorge not only provides medical advice to residents of metro Detroit as a physician on television but also works every day in the emergency department at Henry Ford Hospital to save lives.
Frank McGeorge Career
He worked for years as a regular medical expert contributor to local and national news organizations before joining Local 4. He formerly served as the program director for an Emergency Medicine Residency and has won multiple national and local accolades for his proficiency in teaching the science and practice of medicine.
In 1990, Dr. McGeorge graduated with honors from Northwestern University in Chicago, where he started his medical career. At Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he received his training in emergency care, he remarked, “It truly was like the program ‘ER.’ Every day was a wild drama by itself.” Following his residency, he finished a research fellowship with a focus on critical care and resuscitation. He has since maintained a hectic schedule as a practicing emergency physician and active member of the neighborhood.
He served as the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Michigan chapter’s past president, is a member of the Red Cross Board of Directors, and was previously a board member of HAVEN, Oakland County’s domestic abuse advocacy group. In addition, Dr. McGeorge serves on the editorial board and reviews articles for several medical journals.
Several Emmy Awards, Associated Press Awards for Journalism, Michigan Association of Broadcasters Award, Orthopedic MORE Award for Excellence in Journalism, American College of Emergency Medicine Award for Excellence in Journalism, American Heart Association PULSE Award, and Michigan State Medical Society Award for Excellence in Healthcare Reporting have all been given to Dr. McGeorge in recognition of his work.
