Matthews grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his passion in forecasting severe and non-severe weather increased from the February 5-6, 2010 North American Blizzard better known as “Snowmageddon”), which affected the Pittsburgh area. He went to Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences in May of 2021, after joining the university in 2017.
When Jacob was still at Penn State, he was an active forecaster and weather broadcaster at the University’s Campus Weather Service, a student-run forecasting organization. In addition, he also performed in the Penn State Marching Blue Band as a trumpet player. Outside work, Jacob is usually busy on YouTube, watching Tv shows, or streaming movies, he also sometimes play video games.
