He studied at Asbury University in Wilmore, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications with a minor in Spanish in 2008. He started his career in journalism while in university, working as a Camera Assistant and Operator at Winnercomm for ESPN in the October 2006 Breeder’s Cup in Louisville. Rauch also served as a Sports Intern at WBNS-TV in May 2007 for about 4 months. This was before joining Wheeler Television in September 2007. He served as the scissor lift Camera Operator for a Major League Monster Truck (MLMT) event at the Kentucky Speedway on the Speed Channel.
In January 2008, he started working as a Part-time Sports Photojournalist at WLEX TV in Lexington. He covered high school sports and University of Kentucky athletics. Rauch later served as a Camera Assistant and Operator for the August 2008 Summer Beijing Olympic Broadcasting. While at the Olympics, he covered Michael Phelps swim for his Olympic record eighth gold medal and watched the USA Basketball team win gold. In September 2008, he joined WDNN-TV in Northern Georgia as a Sports Anchor and Reporter, covering high school, UT-Chattanooga, and Georgia Tech sports.
Afterward, Rauch joined WHIZ TV in Zanesville in July 2009 as a Sports Reporter and Anchor, reporting Ohio State Football, the PGA Memorial tournament, and High school sports. He also served as the Play by Play for the highest-ranked basketball team in Ohio. Rauch later moved to WICS TV in Springfield and WICD TV in Champaign in May 2011 serving as a Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter.
