Jessica Kartalija is an American journalist who is currently working as the 5, 6, and 12 p.m. newscast anchor with Ukee Washington at CBS 3 Philadelphia. Joining the evening team at CBS3 in the fall of 2018, she came from CBS Baltimore, where she anchored the 5 pm news. Prior to Baltimore, Jessica worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Yuma, Arizona.

She completed a semester abroad living in Sevilla, Spain, and became fluent in Spanish. Subsequently, Jessica has a Master’s degree in Communications from John Hopkins University where her coursework included the collection, analysis, and presentation of quantitative and qualitative research data. Likewise, she was also developing IMC and social media plans, crisis management principles, strategies, tactics and communication methods.

Kartalija is as well involved in the community and is on the advisory board of Horizons Greater Philadelphia, a camp for children with cancer.  Further, she has also worked with the Special Olympics, The House of Ruth Maryland, The Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) at Kennedy Krieger Institute, and was on the Board of Trustees at the Irvine Nature Center. In Greater San Diego Area at ESPN X Games from May 1997 to September 1998, the CBS journalist was a marketing communications specialist. Jessica was marketing and helping in media relations for Summer and Winter Games in San Diego, and San Francisco both in California, Crested Butte, Colorado, and Mount Snow, Vermont.

From May 2001 to May 2003, she was a news anchor and reporter at KYMA-TV and a noon news anchor and reporter at KOB-TV from June 2003 to June 2006. At Stevenson University Dept. Business Communications in Pikesville, Maryland, Jessie served an adjunct professor of public speaking in the Business Communication Department.
