Berman was educated at Phillips Academy Andover Highschool, which he left in 1990. following high school, he went to study for his degree at Harvard University, from which he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies. In late 1995, Berman joined ABC news and served as the network’s correspondent for over 16 years until 2012. At ABC News, John started as a desk assistant working the overnight shift. From 1997 to 1999, he was the head writer for “World News Tonight With Peter Jennings.” He traveled with Peter Jennings to the Columbine school shooting that happened in Colorado, and to Cuba for the pope’s historic visit.
