John Dickerson whose full name is John Frederick Dickerson is an American journalist, currently a CBS senior national correspondent, and chief political analyst. Additionally, he is also a contributing writer to The Atlantic and the co-host of the Slate Political Gabfest. Apart from being a CBS News Prime Time anchor, he recently published his third book, The Hardest Job in the World: The American Presidency.

Nancy Dickerson, John’s mother married C. Wyatt Dickerson, his father two years after she became CBS’s first female correspondent. John’s mother exhausted the journalistic social barrier back in the 1950s when she was hired by the CBS News Washington bureau. Nancy produced her show Capital Cloakroom and went on to be hired as CBS’s first-ever female correspondent. Previously, she served as an associate producer on Face the Nation. Moreover, John’s mother was the first female correspondent on a political convention floor. Nevertheless, she was also on-site to cover Martin Luther King Jr’s iconic, “I Have a Dream” speech in the 1963 March in Washington.
John’s parents were married for 20 years before divorcing in 1982. Unfortunately, his mother passed away first, in 1997, due to complications from a stroke. Nancy was buried at Arlington National Cemetery next to her second husband, ex-Navy commander John C. Whitehead, whom she married in 1989. Likewise, C. Wyatt Dickerson also died in 2006, due to complications from esophageal cancer. He also remarried after he and Nancy divorced.

Frederick Dickerson is happily married to his beautiful wife Anne Dickerson a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. Anne graduated from the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar in 1991. Her husband, John, attended the same college where the two met. After a few years of her graduation, she was appointed as the head of business affairs at A-Pix Entertainment. However, in 1995, John and his wife tied the knot at the University of Virginia when Anne was 25 years of age. Anne launched the 15 Minutes Group in 2000, a company specializing in media training, message development, and on-air talent training. Dickerson currently resides in New York City with his family. Dickerson and his lovely wife, Anne, have a son and daughter named Brice and Nancy. Of course, Nancy was named after John’s mom.

As a native of Washington D.C., Dickerson graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature/ Letters and a specialty in American Studies. Dickerson kicked off his journalism career with Time magazine, making coverage of economics, congress, and the presidency. For the past four years of his twelve years at Time magazine, John was its White House correspondent. Moreover, Dickerson was Slate magazine’s chief political correspondent from 2005 to 2015 and was previously co-anchor of CBS This Morning. Further, he was the anchor of Face The Nation, and CBS News chief Washington correspondent from 2015 to 2018. John has as well made coverage of the last seven presidential campaigns. Dickerson wrote On Her Trail, a book about his relationship with his late mother Nancy Dickerson Whitehead. The book was published by Simon & Schuster in 2006.
