Nova went to Kent State University, she spent her early years growing up in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, near the Caspian Sea. When she was 8, she moved to Ashtabula, Ohio with her family. While still in the university, Nova was working at TV2 News as an anchor and producer, a station in Portage County. In addition, she worked as an anchor and reporter for the Emmy-nominated show NewsOhio. This was a program that aired across Northeast Ohio PBS stations and helped teach students some civics. For her internships, Karina went to C-SPAN, the Voice of America, and Sen. George Voinovich’s office in Washington D.C. In fact, these are the places that increased her interest in politics.
Nova spends her free time volunteering in the community. She is a serious mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters. On the other hand, she is on the board of The Columbus Fashion Council. This is a nonprofit which provides scholarships to students doing fashion design. It is also a platform for local fashion designers. annually, Karina is excited to be a part of Fashion Week Columbus. It features world-renowned and local fashion designers at the Finale Runway Show. This journalist is bilingual, fluent in both English and Russian, and she loves racking up frequent flier miles, exotic cuisine, and the theater. she is always happy to brag about Columbus while traveling, no wonder she calls the place “home.” In addition, Nova is an advocate and spokesperson for the Metro Parks in Central Ohio.
Leaves 10TV for ABC 7
Starting in January 2022, Nova left 10TV heading across the country to join a television station in San Francisco. However, she says that Columbus will always be her home. Further, Nova added that she will be cheering on the Buckeyes from afar. As much as she left, she acknowledged that the people she met in Columbus and the organizations she worked with will always stay with her. Nova became a better person because of the kind and generous people she met in Central Ohio and they impacted her life, her last day on air was January 24, 2022.
