Katy Zachry is an American journalist serving as a reporter and fill-in anchor for NBC10 News. She provides live reports for NBC10 News Today each weekday morning at 4:30, 5:45, 6:45, and 11:00. Making connections with her audience and making sure they are informed about local issues are two of Katy’s greatest passions.

Zachry is currently a contributor for NBC10 News. Every day is different for a reporter since there are fresh stories to cover, individuals to meet, and community issues to bring to light, according to Katy. “I enjoy having the duty of educating people about both the good and the terrible. Being on the scene, learning fresh information first, and telling our viewers about it immediately is exciting.” Katy attended Bucknell University and graduated with a degree in geography before working at NBC10. She worked numerous media internships during college, including one at Philadelphia’s WHYY. She also worked for news organizations in Hartford, Connecticut, Roswell, New Mexico, and Albuquerque.
The fact that news is constantly being made in the Greater Philadelphia region is Katy’s favorite aspect of reporting it. She also grew up in Newtown, in the county of Bucks, and she has fond memories of the location. Her opportunity to visit Penn State to cover the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal was her most memorable reporting opportunity. Katy covered the fallout, the trial, and Sandusky’s conviction for several weeks while she was in State College. She was one of many journalists who covered the challenging story and won an Emmy.
Katy is happy to serve on the board of Students Run Philly Style, a group that matches urban youth with mentors who run for a living and help them better their grades and lifestyle in the process. When Katy is not covering stories, she likes to spend time with her family, be active, and be outside.
