Marler had a problem in college, he didn’t know what to do with his life since he loved science but didn’t want to be stuck in a lab. Moreover, he wanted to teach but wanted more than a small classroom and loved hamming it up, but didn’t know if that would be considered a job skill. On one spring evening, he had a moment of career clarity that would guide his actions for years, when he decided to combine his two dream jobs as a teacher and game show host. Therefore, Marler graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Sciences. While working on a master’s degree, Marler interned at TV stations in Washington, D.C. thus having a pending thesis review that would have to be completed.
Further, Keith landed his first TV broadcasting job as the morning meteorologist and noon co-host at KBJR-News6 in Duluth. In 2001 January, after three years, Marler was a weekend & noon meteorologist at WUSA-TV. His skills grew while in Duluth and afterward, he received the American Meteorological Society’s coveted Seal of Approval. During his time at FOX 9, Keith has given over 100,000 morning weather reports, On the 9s, winning multiple awards like America’s Favorite Weather Forecaster. In the bargain, Marler has taken an active role in several charities including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Heart Association, and eQuality among others. Brain Tumor
Marler took a surprising break from Fox 9 in mid-July 2020 due to health-related issues and rumor had it that he was fighting a brain tumor. Keith never had a brain tumor instead, he had inner-ear problems that led to vertigo and other complications resulting in a brain malfunction. Vertigo is always mainly caused by maybe a head injury, ear infection, surgery, or prolonged sleep from recovery.
