To make ends meet, Kim would make the drive back home to Detroit on weekends, taking up house cleaning jobs. After a brief stint at WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, Kim received an enticing offer from WXYZ-TV. In July 1997, she made history by becoming Detroit television’s first female meteorologist.
Beyond her work at the station, Kim takes immense pride in her community service efforts. As a breast cancer survivor herself, she actively collaborates with the New Day Foundation for Families. This organization provides vital financial assistance to cancer patients, helping alleviate the burden of mortgage payments, grocery expenses, and more, enabling them to focus on their healing journey. Additionally, Kim supports Turning Point and other shelters dedicated to aiding victims of domestic violence.
