Kraska went to Syracuse University’s prestigious Newhouse School of Communications. After leaving Syracuse University’s prestigious Newhouse School of Communications, Kyle went to Watertown, New York. It is here he started his broadcasting career as a Weekend Sports Anchor. Afterward, he went to Sarasota, FL, then El Paso, TX, then Albany, NY. He later headed back to Tampa, FL. Before long, Kyle went to Hollywood where he became the host of the nationally syndicated news magazine show, Hard Copy.
He was lucky enough to join the CBS News 8 Family in San Diego in 1999, something he became very happy about and settled there to date. Kraska, on February 12, 2015, was shot ten times by Mike Montana and was hospitalized in critical condition though he stabilized and got well. This happened as there was an embroiled of a money dispute between the two. The anchor had given Montana a painting job which later turned sour. Montana, unleashed a fusillade of gunfire on Kraska as the sportscaster was pulling out of his driveway in the 12000 block of Avonette Court, where he lives. This 54-year-old assailant was arrested at his El Cajon home at around 10 p.m nearly seven hours after the shooting. He was ever been denied bail and was later on arraigned on attempted murder.
On August 24, 2016, the assailant, Mike Montana was sentenced to almost 39 years to life in state prison. That was justice to the Sports anchor Kyle Kraska.
