He went to Mississippi State University where he studied Creative Arts in Journalism at John Abbott College in Montreal. After university, Les began his broadcast career in Canada. He was actually one of the original on-camera weather presenters for The Weather Network in Canada in 1989. Apart from the American Meteorological Society Seal, Les also holds the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society Seal.
