Marysol Castro Biography

Marysol Castro is a Public address announcer who works at Citi Field, the New York Mets’ home field. She was a former American broadcast journalist who worked as a news anchor at WPIX in New York, a weather forecaster for The Early Show on CBS in 2011, and a features correspondent for Good Morning America’s weekend edition on ABC from 2004 to 2010.

Marysol Castro Career

Castro was a reporter for News 12, a Bronx-based cable news network. She temporarily served as an English teacher at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn. GMA Weekend was departed by Castro in September 2010. Castro replaced Dave Price as the weekday weather forecaster for The Early Show on CBS on January 3, 2011, as part of a major show revamp. She made the decision to resign from her position as weather anchor effective immediately on September 2, 2011. In order to fill in as the daily morning traffic reporter and anchor at WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, Connecticut, Castro joined the station in June 2015. In November 2015, Castro was stripped of her stand-in responsibilities, and she later left the station.

When the PIX11 Morning News first debuted in 2001, Marysol worked there as the traffic reporter. In 2013, she returned as an anchor. Prior to this, Marysol worked as the weather anchor for The Early Show on CBS and Good Morning America. Castro hosted the Little League World Series and the Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN. The New York Mets hired Marysol as their first female public address announcer in 2018, becoming her the league’s first Latina PA announcer. Castro studied at Wesleyan University and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
