After graduating from Indiana University-Bloomington with a Media Major, he served as a multimedia journalist at TV6 in the KWQC news team in May. Michael always had a passion for sports, the numbers and people that drive them, and all the ways that they can break convention and affect lives. At TV-6, Tilka interviewed Hall of Famer and White Sox legend Frank Thomas ahead of Thursday’s MLB Field of Dreams game between the White Sox and the New York Yankees. Additionally, his favorite thing about being a journalist is getting to be the one to share information with the audience like Miyah Brown being the first Girl’s Basketball player from Winnebago to ever go to a Divison-I school. According to him, a journalist should provide necessary information about the community’s needs and offer information to outside folks who can’t get it anywhere else.
When Michael is not working in the station, he loves going on walks, spending time with friends and family, playing video games, and of course, watching sports. Moreover, Tilka can’t stand soup but loves drinking Yoohoo and his favorite dinner entree is arroz con pollo and loves eating Cotton candy ice cream. Christmas is Michael’s favorite holiday and he refers to it to be sentimental and a time of reflection where the music and movies are great. Spring is his favorite season and in addition, college basketball is his favorite sport. Michael also loves watching Napoleon Dynamite, Parasyte, and Knives Out and reading Going Bovine.
