Mike Slifer Biography
Mike Slifer is an American Meteorological Society certified broadcast meteorologist currently working at NEWS CENTER Maine, Portland since August 2019.
Mike Slifer Education
Slifer always had a passion to be a meteorologist, after high school, he studied and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science from the University of Albany, SUNY, in Albany, New York in 2016.
After his summer internship at NBC Connecticut, Mike found his passion for broadcast meteorology and during his senior year of College he began to take journalism courses and also interned at WTEN in Albany, New York.
Mike Slifer Career
Slifer developed his love for the weather at a very young age, his favorite channel was the weather channel, watching radar loops. Having been raised in Connecticut, he has witnessed a couple of blizzards, floods, hurricanes and severe thunderstorms.
During his summer internship at NBC, he helped make weather graphics in WSI MAX and forecasts. He also helped in live broadcasts and ended up practicing weathercasts in front of the green screen. Slifer also worked at WTEN in Albany, New York for sometime.
After graduating from college his first job was at WVNS in West Virginia where he stayed for three years serving as a weekday morning meteorologist. He later landed a job at NEW CENTER Maine and he is thrilled to be back in New England and close to home.

Mike is currently working as a broadcast meteorologist at WCSH, he is on-air at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays as well as at various times throughout the week filling in. He works alongside a great team of anchors, reporters, Sports anchors and meteorologists including;
