Shay went to Syracuse University. She graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in Asian History. After graduating, she went to work as a television reporter in Michigan, here, it snows from November to May. She also worked in New York, Alabama, and Kansas. Later on, she joined KTRK-TV Channel 13, the ABC-owned station in Houston in 2002. From the time she joined this team in 2002, she has covered very many thrilling stories. She has been to China 3 times for ABC-13, where she followed Houston Rockets, and Houston’s Mayor.
The assignments she remembers most are; covering the 2008 Presidential election, and traveling to Japan, Korea, and Brazil. Important to note, also covered the 2017 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. Outside work, you will find her involving herself in the Houston community. Shay serves as MC for various occasions. She has also moderated a number of community panels. Her dog Mei Ling rounds out the crew. Some of her hobbies are, trying new foods, and traveling to new places.
