Coit hails from Plymouth, Mass, he went to Plymouth North High School and then joined Emerson College in Boston where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in college, he was really involved in on-campus activities which helped him improve his talent for TV. Further, he continued getting better in his athletic career, Nick is a member of the Lions baseball team.
In ABC6, Nick is ever chasing local athletes so as to catch great games and conduct fun interviews, and interesting stories. Before starting working, Nick played for the Blue Eagles for 4 years on the baseball field. In addition, he played the lead role of “Tevye” in Fiddler On The Roof during his senior year, among other roles. Therefore, he always knew that Sports was going to be part of his career, to fit well in his talents. Nick began his sports broadcasting career in May 2011 after graduating from college. He first worked at Boston 25 as a sports producer learning from some of the best in the business.
In December 2011, Nick decided to move North to Bangor, Maine where he started a two-year journey as he worked at WABI TV5 with the legendary Tim Throckmorton. This actually increased his passion for following local sports. Additionally, at the Bangor Auditorium, Nick covered UMaine hockey games at Alfond Arena to the high school basketball tournament. By so doing, he was able to gain a true understanding of the importance of sports.
Coit got closer home in February 2014 when he got a job at WLNE-TV ABC6 in Rhode Island. For the first 4 years at the station, he worked with the legendary Ken Bell where they covered very many Super Bowl victories for the Patriots and, NCAA tournaments. In addition, they covered national championships with the PC Friars as well as Rhody Rams. Once Bell retired, it was time for Nick to get a promotion to the position of Sports Director, which was in July 2017. He was very happy since this is considered a ‘Big Chair.’ He teamed up with Emerson alum, Ian Steele. The two, Nick and Ian have since continued the station’s tradition of strong local sports coverage. They cover high school championships, Celtics/Bruins playoff runs, World Series, and more Super Bowls.
