Pat Battle co-anchors “Weekend Today in New York,” which airs on NBC 4 New York on Saturdays between 6:00 A.M. – 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. as well as on Sundays between 6:00 A.M. – 8:30 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. Battle is also the senior New Jersey correspondent for the station. She was recognized with an Edward R. Murrow award and a National Emmy® for her work covering Hurricane Sandy for NBC 4.

Pat moved from WCBS-TV, where she worked as a general assignment reporter for three and a half years, to NBC 4 New York in April 1996. There, she covered breaking news topics in the tri-state region. Numerous groups, including the Girl Scouts of America and the Jackie Robinson Cultural Center, have commended her efforts. Battle has received numerous prizes for her work in television news, including two New York Emmys. In 2008, the McDonald’s Corporation honored her as a Broadcast Legend as part of its Faces of Black History campaign.

In the fall of 2010, Pat was diagnosed with breast cancer — ductal carcinoma in situ — and underwent surgery to remove the cancerous cells from her right breast. At the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October of that year, she told her tale on “News 4 New York” as yet another act of public service. Two New York Emmy nominations were received for her narrative and an hour-long special called “Talk for a Cure” that aired the next day on “Weekend Today in New York.”
