Roxanne Vargas Biography

Roxanne Vargas is an American and a  two-time Emmy® award-winning journalist for NBC 6 News team in South Florida, which she joined in 2006. She is a holder of numerous awards including a three-time Flamingo Award and an Emmy Award.

Roxanne Vargas has more than a decade of experience in on-air news including health, consumer, and entertainment feature reporting. She also covers local and national breaking news. Needless to say, she is a published author and has a book, 100 Things to do in Miami Before You Die. She was previously reporting on entertainment, national news, health, features, and consumer news on NBC 6 at 5 AM.

She was awarded the recipient of two regional Emmy awards because of her work on NBC 6 News.  Besides that, Roxanne also holds three Flamingo awards, and being a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community, she was honored with the key to the City of Miami Becah because of her Grand marshal March during the Maimi Gay Pride month in 2018. Needless to say, she has been recognized by SAVE and the Aqua Foundation for Women.

Vargas joined an elite group of women such as Brooke Shields, Demi Moore, and Maria Shriver, in 2014 when she was inducted into a famed fashion designer, Donna Karan’s “Women Who Inspire” Program. She was also honored by the Girls Scouts of Southeast Florida with a community leadership award and served on the board of the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
