Polinsky was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and brought up in St. Louis, Missouri, she then went to the University of Michigan where she graduated with a dual degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Drama in 2015. She then realized that her love for performance and storytelling could go well with her love of sports. Thus, she decided to take a career in sports broadcasting. Immediately after graduating, Ruthie took an on-air broadcast job at KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas where she was working the Weekend Sports Anchor and, Reporter, she stayed there for 2 years and then moved to WPRI. She covered a World Series, a Stanley Cup Final, and two Super Bowls while working in New England, though she was at the same time following two college basketball teams to the NCAA Tournament.
Currently, Ruthie works as a sports anchor for NBC 6 and also as a co-anchor of NBC 6 Sports Final on Sunday nights since 2020. Earlier, she also worked at WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island as a Sports Anchor and Reporter where she stayed for 3 years. Her commitment to her work has earned her the National Sports Media Association’s “Rhode Island Sportscaster of the Year” award. This she received in 2019 and in the same year, she was able to receive a National Academy of Television Arts and Science nomination for her feature story about a 15-year-old female boxer named Sierra Martinez.
