Chen was born in Chicago but was brought up in Claremont, California a college-rich town. She went to California State University – San Bernardino where she graduated with a degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism. In addition, she attended the University of California – Los Angeles.
After graduating, Sharon started her broadcasting career in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She worked at KDUH-TV as an anchor, reporter, photographer, and producer before moving to 10/11 News in Lincoln. She worked there for 4 years and then left for Colorado Springs where she worked as a reporter and anchor at KOAA TV. Again she moved to the beautiful islands of Hawaii, she worked at KHNL-TV as a reporter and anchor, and she was covering the latest news in both the bustling city of Honolulu as well as the smaller island communities.
Later, Sharon went to San Diego, California, she has been working there for the last 12 years. Chen joined Fox 6 News and then later at Fox 5 San Diego working as a reporter and anchor. While there, she covered top headlines like the fallout of infamous Mayor Bob Filner and the 2014massive May Wildfires. Outside work, you will find her in the kitchen experimenting to find a new culinary creation but she also loves spending time with her family. Otherwise, her best moments are spending easy time with her daughter and doing arts and crafts.
