Steve Raleigh is an American Emmy Award Winning journalist working at WCPO as their 9 First Warning Meteorologist since joining the station in July 2005. Previously, he was working at KRON-TV in San Francisco, California, as the Chief Meteorologist where he stayed for 20 years.

In addition, the two have been blessed with 4 children, however, one of their daughters, passed on, leaving the couple with 3 children. Further, Steve talks highly about his wife, he even says that they work together since he likes donating his time as a master of ceremonies for several charities, where Julie takes the role of a master “fun-raiser”. The family lives on the West Side of Cincinnati, a place Steve says is perfect for a family.
Steve Raleigh Career
Raleigh is Certified by the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. He went to the University of North Carolina Charlotte where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and Earth Science. He later gained a Master’s Program at Boston University, additionally, he has a degree in Broadcast Journalism. With 38 years of experience in meteorology, Steve has covered everything weather, from tornado outbreaks to major snow events. Further, he is very proud of the WCPO’S tornado coverage as they once lead the Tri-State in accuracy and viewers. Then there was this most recent outbreak, where their coverage was credited with saving lives, this meant so much to him and his team.
Before coming to work at WCPO, Steve had worked in various places, these places include; WLBT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi, as the weather anchor and reporter, WREG-TV in Memphis, Tennessee, as the weather anchor and reporter, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, as the weekend weather anchor and reporter, WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the Chief Meteorologist. But most recently, he was working at KRON-TV in San Francisco, California, as the Chief Meteorologist. Steve is so proud of the Emmy Award he got for Best News Talent, he had covered the strongest tornado ever recorded with winds of 308 mph in Oklahoma. And again, he reported it from a category 5 hurricane and life-threatening flooding.
Achievement
While Steve was working at KRON-TV he represented the United States at the World Weather Conference in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, he was able to broadcast live from the White House lawn during a Presidential Conference on Climate Change. Actually, Steve is somehow, a hurricane hound especially since he even broadcast live from the scene of more than 12 tropical systems. There is a time he broadcast live from a cruise ship steaming into the San Francisco Bay which he says was a lot of fun. Another time he also broadcasted live from inside a plane with the nation’s leading stunt pilot, this time he really shivered but guess what! Steve was the first person ever to broadcast the weather from the top of the Golden Gate Bridge, Wow!
Steve Raleigh’s Daughter Madison (Madi)
Julie and Steve’s daughter Madi died on January 17, 2019, by suicide, when she was only 24 years old. This was after battling mental illness and addiction for several years. Madi really worked and struggled to stay alive but, addiction and mental illness overwhelmed her until she could not overcome it, she went for rehabilitation but got no aftercare leading to her death. Madi really needed a place of support and fun now that she was young and was trying to change her life. However, this support was not available. As such, the Raleigh Family decided to come up with a home that will henceforth, assist all people struggling with addiction and mental health issues so they can get true happiness and recovery. So their hope is that anyone struggling finds relief so as to avoid a fate like that of Madi.
