Hendricks went to Arizona State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. Later, she joined the Hum School of Princeton in Princeton, New Jersey, and graduated in 1991. Susan loved expressing herself through writing while still in high school. Therefore, when she got to Arizona State University she realized that she wanted to become a reporter. After her graduation, she was lucky enough to land a job as the new host of Weekend Express replacing Lynn Smith who took over the story together with Robin Meade on Morning Express with Robin Meade.
Hendricks actually decided to pursue her career in television journalism after hearing Walter Cronkite speak in one of her classes at the university. She was in fact, able to interview Mr. Cronkite years later as a reporter. It was with great honor to meet him and spend time with such an icon. She started as an intern at the Fox affiliate in Phoenix where she watched and learned so much. She also spent several years at Comcast Cables in Los Angeles, California before moving to KESQ Palm Springs as a field reporter. Also, she worked at the ABC and NBC affiliates, KMIR and KESQ. Later on, she moved back to Los Angeles from Atlanta to be part of an interactive news channel Direct TV. Besides that, her work schedule and limited public exposure made her return to Headline News in September 2005. She has also become famous as a crime -victims advocate, for example, covering the Delphi murders of two young girls in 2017.
