Pretty went to the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urban where he graduated with a degree in Scientific studies in 1995. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Ted began his first news job at KHGI-TV in Kearney, Nebraska. He was working as a photographer as well as a reporter. Ten then went to Pocatello, Idaho’s KPVI-TV, and worked there as their first-morning show fill-in anchor as well as a reporter. He again went back to Illinois where he worked at WCIA-TV as an anchor and reporter in their top-rated morning show.
In the Summer of 1999, Ted then joined FOX5 where he helped to launch the morning show, which was after twenty years of working as an anchor. Ted would be very early, in fact as early as 2.00 am so as to make it in good time for the morning show. He did this for fourteen years, after that, Ted was given the role of nighttime Chief Meteorologist towards the end of 2013. He is actually the station’s first-ever Federal Aviation Administration-licensed drone pilot.
